Job Title: MICROBIOLOGIST III
Salary: $1,284.00 - $1,976.00 Biweekly $33,384.00 - $51,376.00 Annually Job Type: Full-Time Location: 1115 S. Braeswood, Texas PN # 07029 ALL PERSONS INTERESTED Health & Human Services Office of Surveillance & PH Preparedness* ELCIDS/Lab* 1115 South Braeswood.* M -F 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. * *Subject to change DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Performs highly technical bacteriology, serological and/or virological laboratory work according to clearly prescribed procedures and laboratory techniques or developmental methods. Assists and performs various tests related to the detection of viral or fungal infections. Maintains stock cultures for the preparation of solutions used in viral and bacteriological testing. Records and reports test results. Performs other technical assignments as required. May assist supervisor with administrative tasks. Maintains direct responsibility for microbiological research projects and writes technical reports. May be required to serve as an expert witness in legal or regulatory proceedings. WORKING CONDITIONS The position occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional very light lifting, such as three or four reams of papers or books (up to 20 pounds or an equivalent weight) may be required. Skills / Requirements
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
A Bachelor s degree in Biology, Bacteriology, Microbiology or a closely related field is required. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Two years of experience in laboratory work dealing with bacteriology, serology or virology are required. MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS Valid Texas Driver's License and compliance with the City of Houston policy on driving (AP 2-2). PREFERENCES: None.
