DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Repair collision damage of vehicles and equipment and returns to OEM condition/appearance. Prepare heavy and light vehicles for painting; i.e. sands, masks and seals. Paint vehicles/equipment, returning to original appearance. Install decals and pin-stripping. Insure all vehicles are detailed; i.e., removing of all overspray from weather stripping, windows and tires, wet sanding residue and dust, inside and out. Return all unused paint and materials to proper storage upon completion of each assignment. Stay current on new technology. Work to obtain ASE and EVT certifications. Keep daily log of jobs. Complete paperwork neatly, accurately and promptly after each assignment. Advise supervisor upon completion of assignments. Use HVLP paint guns. Return equipment to original condition upon completion of assignment. Maintain a personal inventory of hand tools. May perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The position involves considerable physical exertion, such as regular climbing of ladders, lifting of heavy objects (up to 80 pounds) on a highly frequent basis and/or assuming awkward positions for long periods of time. There are routine exposures to significant levels of heat, cold, moisture and pollution. The position may involve periodic exposure to chemical substances and physical trauma of a minor nature such as cuts, bruises and minor burns.

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a high school diploma or GED. May require up to 18 months of vocational education/training in automotive maintenance or repair (i.e., NIASE).

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two years of automotive maintenance and repair experience are required.

MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Requires a valid Texas Driver's License and compliance with the City of Houston policy on driving (AP 2-2). May require a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) if the position requires operation of a heavy vehicle. Departments with a CDL training program may require a position to obtain an A or B CLD within six (6) months of entering the position. In the Fire Department, a State of Texas Inspection License may be preferred. PREFERENCES: Preference will be given to applicants with ASE & EVT Certifications.
