Job Title: ASSISTANT EMS PHYSICIAN DIRECTOR, MD (Part-Time)
Salary: $2,472.00 - $5,325.00 Biweekly $64,272.00 - $138,450.00 Annually Job Type: Part-Time Location: 500 Jefferson, Texas PN# 06773 ALL PERSONS INTERESTED ASSISTANT EMS PHYSICIAN DIRECTOR, MD (Part-time) FIRE DEPARTMENT OPERATIONS COMMAND EMS MEDICAL DIRECTION 500 JEFFERSON, SUITE 1500 MONDAY - FRIDAY, *9 AM - 5 PM**Subject to change* DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assist in the daily activities of EMS as delegated by the EMS Physician Director and EMS Associate Physician Director. Provide on-scene quality assurance, medical direction and supervision. Participate in on-line medical control on a regularly scheduled basis. Educate, train and examine fire fighter EMTs and Paramedics. Participate in quality assurance/quality improvement activities. Initiate and directly assist in various research projects. Represent the City of Houston Fire Department Emergency Medical Services at the local, state and national EMS meetings. May perform other duties as assigned. WORKING CONDITIONS The position occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional very light lifting, such as three or four reams of papers or books (up to 20 pounds or an equivalent weight) may be required. There are routine exposures to significant levels of heat, cold, moisture, air pollution and/or contagious diseases. The position may involve exposure to chemical substances and physical trauma of a minor nature such as cuts, bruises and minor burns. Skills / Requirements
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a M.D. from and American Medical Association accredited medical school and board certification or eligibility in General Surgery, Emergency Medicine and/or Internal Medicine. Requires a license to practice medicine in the State of Texas within six months of the time of appointment. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Two years of experience in pre-hospital emergency care, trauma care, EMS research and teaching or a closely related field are required. MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS Valid Texas Driver's License and compliance with the City of Houston policy on driving (AP 2-2). PREFERENCES: PREFERENCES Preference will be given to applicants who have successfully completed and Emergency Medicine residency and/or an Emergency Medical Services fellowship.
